I’d like to get a sense of what the Club members think of all this. Specifically, what should be allowed in competitions. Of course, all is fair for your personal projects, but we should agree what are the rules about this for competitions.
My own opinion is that only object removal should be allowed. Swapping elements seems obviously verboten since you’ll be getting someone else’s work incorporated. Canvas extension also seems off limits because, again, you’ll be getting someone else’s work. Content aware fill seems OK for this since it is only using information in your image and not bringing in other elements.

By the way, if you want to try this out yourself, you can download the Photoshop beta. You do this by opening the Creative Cloud Desktop app, clicking on Apps in the top menu bar and then finding Betas in the menu on the left. If you have a Photographer subscription, you are entitled to it. Have fun!
